Hull City Council’s streetscene services have been formally recognised for meeting high standards of quality and performance.

Streetscene has successfully extended its ISO 9001 certification, awarded by NQA, to now include highway operations, grounds maintenance and parking services, while retaining the standard for Civic One.

ISO 9001 is the internationally recognised standard for quality management systems (QMS). It provides a clear framework for organisations to enhance efficiency, customer satisfaction and overall performance.

This prestigious achievement for highway operations, grounds maintenance, parking services, and Civic One reflects the council’s unwavering commitment to quality management and continuous improvement.

The ISO 9001 certification now covers -

  • highway operations (including repairs and maintenance)
  • grounds maintenance (arboriculture, city centre grounds, horticultural services, cemeteries and crematoriums)
  • parking services (car park management, parking enforcement, appeals)
  • Civic One (CCTV monitoring, security, emergency planning, 1st responder, public safety, out of hours, alarm monitoring and keyholder response

The awarded services are dedicated to upholding quality standards and work collaboratively to achieve certification for their departments.

Councillor Mark Ieronimo, cabinet portfolio holder for transport and infrastructure at Hull City Council, said -

“As a council we are determined to deliver the highest standards possible, so the extension of our ISO 9001 certification is a fantastic achievement and a real testament to the dedication and professionalism of our teams.”

Councillor Charles Quinn, cabinet portfolio holder for environment at Hull City Council, added -

“I am delighted to see our grounds maintenance service achieve this recognition. It is a proud moment for the council and a real credit to the team, who work so hard behind the scenes. Their dedication helps keep Hull looking its best all year round.”

The ISO 9001 certification is designed for ambitious organisations that are committed to delivering quality and achieving success.

The standard improves organisational practices, meeting the needs of customers and stakeholders, by introducing a framework that drives continuous improvement.

It helps ensure that quality remains consistent in the supply of goods and services through the correct application of a QMS.

Streetscene continues its commitment to maintaining and extending the scope of the ISO 9001 certification through formal annual assessments by the NQA, regular audits and continued dedication.
