How we can help you

To help achieve its ambition of a cleaner, greener and healthier city, Hull City Council works closely with businesses, organisations and education providers across the city to develop workplace travel plans.

The council encourages them to join the national travel plan accreditation schemes delivered by Modeshift STARS.

The council fully funds the schemes, making them free for Hull businesses, organisations and education providers to join.

What is a travel plan?

A travel plan is a tool which helps organisations manage transport to and from their sites through a package of measures and actions aimed at reducing single-occupancy car journeys by encouraging the use of alternative, sustainable and active travel modes.

What are the benefits and advantages of a travel plan?

In addition to the environmental benefits, travel plans also -

  • reduce single-occupancy car journeys to help alleviate pressure and congestion across site car parks
  • identify the availability and accessibility of viable transport options based on staff locations
  • potentially improve and develop site connectivity links through sustainable and active travel
  • improve staff wellbeing, with physical and mental health benefits
  • improve staff benefit packages, enabling your business to become a more attractive and appealing place to work
