To support the transition to electric vehicles (EV) and the national drive towards net-zero, Hull City Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council have teamed up with Let’s Experience Electric to help people find out more about EV adoption.
By 2050, the Government has legislated that any new cars or vans sold in the UK will be zero-emission from 2035.
The UK ZEV (zero emission vehicle) mandate requires that, by 2030, 80% of all new cars and 70% of all new vans sold must be zero-emission.
To support residents and businesses, regular free events will be hosted – ‘Let’s Go Electric!’ – to allow people from across Hull and East Yorkshire to explore some of the benefits of EV adoption and find out more about other sustainable transport solutions, including electric buses and eBikes.
Visitors to these events can test drive a range of exciting new electric cars and bikes, speak to dealers, ask questions and learn from industry experts about the latest advancements in EV technology, including charging infrastructure, to help support the transition to zero-emission, battery electric vehicles, whether for home or work.
The events align with both councils’ electric vehicle strategies, which seeks to facilitate the wider adoption of EVs across the region and tackle some of the current barriers slowing the transition to cleaner air and more sustainable means of travel.
