Walk Description
- Start on Willerby Road, on the boundary with the East Riding of Yorkshire. Take the public footpath on the south side of the road between 467 Willerby Road, Hull and 430 Kingston Road, Willerby
- When the footpath opens into a grassed area with woodland, bear right and follow the footpath alongside the Sand Dike
- Continue along the public footpath, you will pass a small footbridge on your right and the perimeter of a former Yorkshire Water Museum on your left
- At the point where you come across playing fields, turn left and continue on the footpath alongside the former museum
- At the end of the footpath, cross Springhead Avenue and turn left
- When you arrive at Willerby Road, cross at the controlled Toucan crossing, turn left and head for Wymersley Road
- After crossing the road, turn right and follow the footway along Wymersley Road
- Cross Sandycroft Close and continue along Wymersley Road
- At the end of Wymersley Road, turn left to join Carr Lane
- When you reach the wooden fence and gate with a footpath sign, go through the gate. Sand Dike is to the left, follow the public footpath
- Continue walking along the path by Sand Dike and the edge of Springhead Park golf course, until you reach Willerby Road
- Cross Willerby Road, where you have returned to your start point
Features of Interest
Springhead Park Golf Club was founded in 1930 and was originally a municipal golf course operated by Hull City Council. The golf course is a mature parkland layout that effectively acts as greenbelt land between the City of Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire. The course boasts tree-lined fairways on every hole and a variety of hazards and features to challenge golfers of all abilities.
